Headlight problem
My firebirds headlights raise... sometiimes, the lights always turn on even if they dont raise so it cant be the switch but it is embarressing to have to get out and have to raise the hood and manually lift the headlights when they decide to act up. Is it the module?

could be what i did with mine was bypassed module and installed some toggle switched to raise and lower on my 89 formula all it does is reverse polarity to raise and lower you might disconect it hook up to battery and reverse to test motors on mine the module that controls motors was about 200 so i bought 2 toggles and wired in to reverse polarity much cheaper lol

alot of headlight problems I just posted a link on another thread and described what I had to fix the 2 times mine wouldnt work. Both times they wouldnt work intermittently. if you hear the motors making noise and they go up sporadically its most likely the ***** are grinded up inside the gear housing. I rebuilt mine with a kit from topdownsolutions. not sure if the kit is still available or not but it had new ***** gaskets etc. they worked like new for a couple more years then had to bang on the dash pop the hood or slam a door to get them to pop up. ended up doing like in this video to fix the loose solder connections inside the module itself.

no mine doesnt make any motor sound. Its like the motor is not getting power nut the head lights still turn on.

Using a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) to probe the headlight module terminal 1A yellow wire, then 1C brown wire, to see if they get power when you turn the headlights on.
The headlight module is a rectangular unit about 3" x 4" mounted in a bracket on the left side of the firewall.
It has two connectors.
The prong that sends power to the lamps is the same one that sends power to the door module.
Because they open sometimes there is an intermittent connection which you need to find.
Wire up a small 12 volt bulb (a side marker bulb works best).
Connect one lead to ground and the other lead to pin 1A yellow wire on the module.
Make the wires long enuff to bring it into the cockpit.
The next time the doors don’t open observe if the bulb is illuminated.
If it is, you will know that control power is getting to the module therefore test or replace the module.
If the test bulb is not illuminated, you will know that control power is not getting to the module there you merely have to restore that one connection.
