I'm doing a swap from auto to manual. I was using my sawzall and realized it had been smacking back and forth against the sensor that's under the console.

There has been no battery in the car for a year.

I'd like to know if my airbags are likely to blow when the battery is connected again.

Do these sensors trigger when there's no power?

From what I remember years ago when first installed on cars: The sensor is basiclly a magnetic ball. When the ball detaches from the sensor, is when the air bag deploys. I would assume you have not had enough impact to dislogde the ball from making contact with the sensors and if you did I am sure they are back in place now.

 

Id pull the fuse to be safe or plug the battery in now and hopefully nothing happens. Or replace the sensor with one you know hasnt had a sawsall incident
