VATS question...help!
I'm in the middle of an analog to digital dash swap and my car came with VATS equipped with the analog harness. This digital dash harness I got was from an 89 with no vats option (I assume this because there is no connector that looks like the one from my analog harness that plugs into the passkey module) so what I'm wondering is if everything will still work normally if I'm using a non vats harness on an originally vats car with the chip in the key and wiring on the steering column. Thanks!

It may work, but I have a feeling your vats module isn't going to be happy, if you're swapping all the wiringiI ddon't see why it won't work, the signal goes from the tumbler to the module to the ecm (in basic words) and if it worked for the previous car it should work in yours

Re: VATS question...help!
Thanks for the reply. Technically wouldn't I be able to cut all the wires on the vats connector and have it connected to the module and just have to the connector that plugs into the ignition tumbler plugged in and splice the enabler wire that goes into the ecm and leave the rest of the wires that go into the rest of the harness?

Re: VATS question...help!
Well 89 SHOULD have vats, so I would splice that connector into the new harness and do the resistor trick on the plug. Or you can ground a wire on the vats relay which will leave the security light on but you can pull the bulb out, or there's the option of a custom prom with no vats
I would just do it and see what the result is, you have multiple avenues to choose from if need be

Re: VATS question...help!
Those are some expensive resisters and a unnecessary relay.
