85 hatch stuck (no key)

Hello, I own an 85 IROC, without the electric hatch pull down.

A few weeks ago my hatch release switch decided it didn't want to work anymore, +12 volts are being read at the switch terminals so I know it's getting power.

I have a subwoofer box in the well, making it extremely hard to access the hatch mechanism, but I can access it somewhat.

When I bought the car it came with some keys, only one of the keys actually did anything (start the car), the others were useless seemingly (wouldn't lock/unlock the doors, wouldn't unlock/lock the ttops or hatch). So I can't get in the normal ways.

Thank you *very* much for your help, I appreciate it sincerely.

Edit: I did some searching, the only info I can find is on the hatches with the pull down motor.. I can't find any info on the non-electric hatches.. some people said use a flat head screwdriver to get it open, but I can't figure out where to do that at.

However make sure the switch works.

Jump the switch to determine.

When jumping the switch do you hear a *click*?

Sorry, almost forgot that I made this thread.. When I say "I know it's getting power" I mean at least at the switch. I did try jumping it yes, did not hear a click (I touched the two wires together).

Re: 85 hatch stuck (no key)

I was able to get it open.

I took my center console out mainly to clean everything..

The relay was bad I think, I took the black wire coming out of it, and applied 12v to it, Bam! hatch open! So, I kind of bypassed the relay, lengthened that black wire, and have it tucked away but if I need to open the hatch all I have to do is untuck it and apply 12v.

Re: 85 hatch stuck (no key)

I just pulled the lock cylinder out of my driver's door and had some keys made at my local locksmith. Cost me $27 and a bit of time.
