The infamous isolator relay. 3 possible sollution?
Ok on my 84 T/A my isolator relay just clicks when i hit the headlights so it bit the dust and o boy they dont make new ones
So after digging through TG.org a guy said he used a 87-92 actuator relay with some diods and it worked but no further info on how and the thread died
Then i did some digging and are ugly cousins the fiero seem too came up with the/a answer for use 82-86 birds

i can kinda see how there are 3 possiblitys but idk which would be the best one
Option 1: Use a 87-92 actuator and 2 diods (diagram included)
Option 2: Hot wire it and delete the isolator relay (diagram included)
Option 3: Use 5 pin universal relay and matching plug, a inline fuse holder and a few crimp conectors
Now im not that good with wiring so im gunna ask the wiring gurus which would be the best solution? I know many of use are SOL when it comes to the isolator relay and finding a temp fix would be great!

I used option 3, standard 5-pin relay and a little rewiring. Has worked fine for years.

My wife had her isolation relay burn out on her 1986 Firebird. After months of research I put two years of electronics school to work and built a replacement. Watch it in action on .
Working up the plans now and will post them in another thread soon.
