Odd issue with ac and speedo

1991 camaro rs v6

When the car has sat while its cool out everything is great. When its sat out in the sun or been ran the problem starts
Problem is the ac quits working and the speedo quits working at the same time
Wondering if its an issue with some temp sensor or what the issue is. New computer was installed and no difference.

Re: Odd issue with ac and speedo

Little more technical of a update.

In the morning car runs perfectly fine. Shifts perfect runs great. Speedo works perfectly. Leave the car sot in the sun at work untill the end of the day. Speedo doesnt work at all. Runs a little bit of a high idle. When it goes to shift it surges slightly then shifts smooth. Fuel mileage also sucks while its in this modr. Wondering if the IAT sensor mod would fix this. It seems like the car thinks its hot when its not. But that doesnt explain the speedo not working at the same time. Any help is greatly apprrciated.

Need 4 Speed - - - - - - - - ometer

Gain access to the buffer which looks like this:

It’s located behind the instrument panel at the right.

Connect an audio amplifier to terminal A
yellow wire to make sure it’s getting a steady signal.

Ground to ground, the signal wire to terminal A
yellow wire of the VSS.

With the car on jackstands listed for a hum from the amplifier when the rear wheels are rotating.

If you do, then find out if you get a hum from terminal C
tan wire.

The
tan wire then goes to the speedometer unit.

A/C:

Get a set of gages to check the pressures.

If there’s too much the A/C can still function however when hot the problem will activate the overpressure switch and the unit will not run.

Happy Racing!

Re: Odd issue with ac and speedo

Will check this out later tonight. Im just confused on how all the problems happen at once, after the car has sat in the heat all day. Like i said in the morning everything works GREAT. car runs perfectly and has no issues at all. Then you get in and no speedo, no ac, no good shifting trans and por fuel economy. Seems like a computer issue but it has had 2 new computer put in by the PO to try to fix this issue already. Has to be something simple and related but i just havent been able to find anything searching here and through the repair manual.
