Speedo and Odometer Buried

91 Formula Firebird

I apologize if this has been covered already I searched and could'nt find anything. The Speedometer buries itself almost as soon as I start to move. The Odometer is rotating like Im going mach 5. I went to change the vss and it didnt even look like the one I took out. Turns out the transmission is at least a 94 as that is what vss fit it. So I changed the vss and it still does the same thing. I have no clue what to do now.

Sounds like the PPM of the 94 tranny doesnt match the stock gauges. What tranny is it? What did you have in there before?

I think it is a 700r4 but Im not sure. How could I find out? I should add I just recently got the car on a trade so the transmission was in there when I got it. It had this problem since I got it.

Re: Speedo and Odometer Buried

Unfortunately that isn't an option. The car was purchased at a police auction. I took it for a long drive today. And it buries itself as soon as the car starts to move. Also it and the odometer would just stop working then start working again. It shifts great the only real issue is the speedometer and odometer.
