86 Iroc Headlight Issues

Can someone tell me which lights should be on when low beams are on and when high beams are on? When I turn my lights on only the outside driverside light comes on and when I switch to brights the inside drivers side light comes on and both passenger side lights come on. Should all four be on when the brights are on? So far I can't find a clear answer, I just bought the car and I'm not sure if I just need bulbs or if I have a wiring issue.

Re: 86 Iroc Headlight Issues

When the low beams are on just the two outside lamps should be on.

When the high beams are on, all four lamps should be on.

From what you describe, both outside lamps have a burned out filament. Replace them both and you should be good to go.

Yeah, it's confusing until you realize that the two outside lamps have two filaments in them. One filament is for the low beam and the other is for the high beam.

Right now, your outside passenger side lamp has a burned out low beam filament but a good high beam filament. Your outside driver's side lamp has a good low beam filament but a burned out high beam filament.

Re: 86 Iroc Headlight Issues

From what im understanding your low beams on both sides work and when you turn your high beams on both pass side lights stay on and on the drivers side the low beam headlight shuts off correct?

If so I had the same problem simple fix pull the plug off the one that shuts make sure the contact points are both clean and fulling pushed into the plug mine came loose and didnt connect to the headlightmade sure all three wires where connected to the headlight and works just fine now

oddly enough mines an 86 to hope this helps

Re: 86 Iroc Headlight Issues

I had two burnt out headlights, I got mixed up when I was looking at the lights before, I replaced the low beam on the passenger side so I have low beams now but it was actually my inside high beam on the drivers side that was burnt out and I bought two low beam lights so I gotta exchange one for a high beam and the headlights will be completely fixed.
