85 t/a carb alternator wiring
Howdy, I converted my t/a to straight carb, pulled the ecu and TPI wiring, and am looking on how to wire the alternator in the simplest way. Building her like my demo derby cars; bulletproof and reliable drive train.
I think its sposed to be
terminal on alt. -> positive battery terminal, then the two prong plugs in and the black wire coming off it screws onto the terminal, but am not 100%.
Is this correct?
also having a problem with the tach. Ran my own dizzy wiring (vacuum advance hei, no computer), I plug the white tach wire In and
it works, but acts like it doesn't know what rpm the engine starts at.
ie, it idles around 1200rpm, but shows 5k. floor it and it pegs out and then settles back to 5. every time I start it she picks a different number to start on. does the pink wire beside it need to be tapped into 12v or something?
the way its currently wires is
battery pos -> dip switch, switch to in line fuse, fuse to dizzy.
ignition module hooked up as it should.
Dizzy ground to battery negative
Fuel gauge pegs out as well.
If I run new wiring, one hot wire to the float, one negative to the gauge and then to ground, would that work? I have an out of tank electric pump as well.
Any help appreciated.
