Re wiring heater

I ripped out the a/c core (aka, 5 lb mini sledge) and the engine bay wiring
and evidently I removed the wiring that controls the heater. Nothing inside the
car had been messed with or removed, but how could I rewire it to work? I'd assume just running a 12v wire to it, but I obviously don't know lol.
Do the wires going to the a/c core control the heater? If not then obviously i have another issue.
any help appreciated.

Re: Re wiring heater

The wiring from the fan speed control switch inside the car goes to the blower motor resister. The resisters are put in the blower motor hosing to keep the cool. If you ripped that out time to put it back.

Crap, it was damaged so it got removed via the hammer method. the wiring is still there but not the housing.

Re: Re wiring heater

time to scour the classifieds or hit the junk yard ! I would be Leary exposing the resistors to the engine compartment. Any road Debris landing on a winding could start a fire.

Re: Re wiring heater

Would wiring it that way work though? I dont mind no ac, but no heater would seriously suck :/ i can make a plexiglass protector for it , as well as her having 1/4" steel skid plates from the radiator support to just behind the firewall. I'm running my headers through the hood and with the ac core there, the headers don't fit.

Re: Re wiring heater

The resister coils get pretty hot and should be mounted in the blower air stream. I guess relocating it in a interior hvac duct would be a option or just wire in a relay and have the fan switch control the blower motor for a high speed only.

Re: Re wiring heater

I have the same problem but I dont think the high setting goes through the resistor just straight to the relay. I have my ac out and core and just use the high setting for defrost...but my blower motor went out this morning. It is the original. I will replace and see how it works.
