Hi, I am in the process of installing an 86 camaro 305 TPI in my truck and have wired everything using the original engine harness but there is no take off for the fuel pump. Any ideas how I do this please? The fuel relay etc is wired as it should be.

At the moment the fuel pump is wired on the ignition switch but runs constantly.. I want it controlled by the ECU / oil pressure switch if possible.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've checked the wiring on my harness and there is a tan and white wire that goes from the pump relay, through the oil pressure switch and into the ECU. There is no take off for the fuel pump.
Looking at the diagram supplied by John, would it be okay to splice into this wire? If so, I am guessing between the oils pressure switch and the ECU?

 

According to my 85 diagram, pin A at the FP relay has a red wire. That wire is spliced into a wire that goes to one side of the Oil pressure switch, then branches off to feed the fuel pump.

Jonesyfxr - Are you sure ?? I've seen Orange, Tan/White,.. and blue - but never red.


The 85 TPI Wiring is not the same as later TPI,... I almost posted that diagram here by mistake !

This is the 1985 TPI Schematic ( for those members that read this thread After 01-02-14 ! )




Tri458: The TAN/White wire that should lead to your fuel tank is located on the DASH-to-ENGINE harness connector on a Third gen. ( C207, Pin D ) Since your truck dash harness doesn't that connector you'll have to run a wire from C207 ( Pin 'D" ) of the TPI ENGINE harness back to your Fuel Pump.
