Stripped wires in Engine Bay

Hi everyone,

I have a 1987 Camaro SC V6 2.8L 173CU with some unknown wires stripped, cut or disconnected in engine bay on driver side. The car operates fine except for both the high beams its just I'm curious as to what these wires connected to in the past. I am the second owner of the car and this car is my first.

This picture here i guess its part of the headlamp circuit but I don't know what plugs into this connector.

The cut red and black wires that Im holding up was brought to my attention when I got the radiator replaced a few weeks ago, and the mechanic thought it was for a coolant level sensor connector for the radiator but I cant find the connecter that was there originally. Last weekend I went to a auto salvage yard and the 91 and 92 Camaro that I saw there didnt have this wire nor a sensor in the radiator.

The Black wire that I'm holding is grounded to the body, and the red wire is coming from around this device in the pictures.

Thank you for viewing and trying to help out.

Re: Stripped wires in Engine Bay

Just a guess but kinda looks like a siren from an aftermarket alarm and the wiring is probably for it

so now I can remove all 4 wires including the siren without damaging anything? thanks Canucksfan1.

I was looking at the wiring diagram for the headlights but I still cant find whats supposed to be connected to that connector that's attached to the headlight circuit.

Right,.... no fog lights - so no fog light harness connected to that plug.

Your car probably isn't an 'RS', It's probably a Sports Coupe or an LT. There might have been a couple 'RS cars release in 87 - but 88 was the first year of production for the RS cars.

P.S. No Problem !

That is definitely an alarm siren. It's not uncommon that they get left behind or disconnected when an alarm malfunctions. Not sure what that connector goes to though...

RS Camaro's were a "California only" model for 1987. For 1988 I believe it included sales to Texas and Florida along with California. 1989 model year, the RS became the "base" Camaro.
