Throttle Gauge?
Ok guys,
I'm in the process of installing a lot of higher end and modern pieces to my Camaro.
The new Nissan GTR and a few other super cars have a throttle gauge. Pointless? Arguably. But its cool.
I will be buying a few digital 60mm gauges for my car, and I would like a throttle gauge, and unfortunately no one makes aftermarket gauges. I don't think I can call up Bugatti, and ask for the parts department either.
I am thinking that I might be able to use the TPS sensor somehow(LS1). Or rig up, well in proper terms, design a mechanism that is attached to the gas pedal that will give more voltage as the pedal is pressed, and this voltage then goes to the gauge, allowing the needle to move.
I'm sure I will need a regulator of some sort between the pedal and the gauge, unless full 12 volts allows the needle to be fully turned.
The line of gauges I am interested in use a Stepper motor. The company sells these gauges:
Boost Gauge
Water Temp
Exhaust Temp
Oil Temp
Oil Pressure
Any ideas on where to start? Whether that be using the TPS sensor, or designing a device that correlates pedal position with voltage?

Re: Throttle Gauge?
I assume you have a TPI. If so, your TPS sensor provides the voltage reading you are looking for. IIRC, the TPS sensor is at something like .55 volts at WOT. I would think all you'd have to do is tap into that circuit and have the gauge programed to react from that voltage. That's where I'd start.

Its going to be a LS1 Motor.
That's what I had in mind, but I dont know much about gauges, would I be able to reprogram an aftermarket digital gauge?

Re: Throttle Gauge?
With my ls swap I just use my tablet and elm327 bluetooth adpater to display throttle and many other things using the torque pro app.cheaper than buying gauges and wiring etc.
