Ive searched this forum to no avail. Any inputs would be appreciated.

I have a 1991 GTA with the 5.7. My battery is located on the driver's side, behind the headlight.

I'm missing the battery tie down. It looks like my car is supposed to have two vertical posts/pegs on the battery tray (located to the rear of the battery, the stick up about a half an inch or so). One of these posts is also missing.

The local parts stores have a bunch of universal tie downs, but I'm missing the original, so I'm not sure which I need.

I'd rather go with OEM, but in the end, I'd like the option that does the best job.

But, it looks like its missing the long steel hooks.

Any ideas where I can get the tie down and the missing post/peg?

the one from your link is what the factory used. it's held on with about a 2" long, metric bolt.

 

As stated, the tray should be threaded for the bolt, but sometimes the bolt is broken off inside of the threaded portion. The bolt has an odd pitch and is typically pointed at the end (probably to help line it up).

If you happen by a junk yard you could probably get the pair (block & bolt) for free or a nominal cost. Very common out there.

 

Had the same issue a few weeks ago. Lots of GM cars use the same hold down. The bolt is about 2" long as stated above. On my 89 Formula, the hold down goes on the side closest to the firewall. The hole in the tray is threaded. I had to use some PB Blaster on the hole and work the bolt in and out several times to get it work.

 

found one and the bolt under my workbench. if you need it, let me know.
