Speedometer Messed Up

So the other day I figured out that my speedometer is screwed up. In order to go 30mph I have to have the speedometer roughly around 37mph, in order to go 45mph I have to have the speedometer at 55mph, and in order to go 55mph I have to have the speedometer around 68mph. I haven't really looked into it much but I was wondering what you guys thought could be the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Speedometer Messed Up

Perhaps your vehicle speed sensor (vss) needs to be replaced.
It may be delivering a false input signal to your speedo.

Re: Speedometer Messed Up

Your speedo should be cable driven. VSS is not the issue here, but wrong speedo gears in tailshaft for your tires/rear gear ratio combo. Mine is the polar opposite of your problem. Speedo says 30 MPH and actual is 37. I just use my Garmin for the speed, also tells you the limit for the road you are on. There is a sticky for figuring out which drive and driven gears you need for X tire size and X gear ratio.
