Fuel sending unit wire????

Transmission: 700r4 w/ shift kit
Fuel sending unit wire????
I think I read somewhere that the fuel sending unit wire that goes into the dash for the gauge is a purple wire that cones up from the kick panel on the drivers side under the dash. Is this correct? I have a pic of it if I can get it to upload.
