No Power Anywhere
Did a 350 swap and now there is no power to anything, no lights, nothing.
I checked the grounds on the back of the heads, the power steering pump and the firewall and they are all good.
The starter has the three wires attached to the bigger bolt and the purple small one connected to the smaller one.
Battery terminals are fine, I have little over 12V at the alternator and through the main battery cables.
So im not sure what could be wrong, I don't have that much time to go from wire to wire testing so if anyone has had a similar problem help would be great.
I don't know if the new PROM chip could be bad and cause this or what?
Thanks

Re: No Power Anywhere
No, a PROM won't affect things like headlights, radio, starter, etc.
I'd be looking REAL HARD in the vicinity of the starter. I know you said that about "3 wires"; look again. Like, make sure the batt cable is hooked up there, too.
It's going to be something real simple; probably one of those forehead-slappers when you find it.

Ok will do. I hooked up a multimeter to the starter cable for.the battery and then the ground purple wire and it only had.0.3 V across it, is that normal?
Thanks

Re: No Power Anywhere
Also if I put the tester on the ground on the steering pump and ground it on anything it says 12 V but if I put the positive cable on the tester at the starter and ground it anywhere it says zero....

Re: No Power Anywhere
Turns out this guy who had it before jerryrigged something on the positive cable which was not correctly done and i jiggled it and it fixed itself.

No Time To Go To The Prom
Use a voltmeter or small bulb to probe the M terminal.
If you have power there you either blew some Fusible Links or connected them to the wrong terminal at the starter.
Also check for power in and out of the Junction Block near the battery.
If it’s the cable FROM the battery TO the starter it should have about 12 volts at all times.
NOTHING in that area operates at 0.3.
Your meter might be too sensitive for main power work therefore it’s picking up some stray nonsense.

Re: No Power Anywhere
There was a ground wire that has always hanged next to the battery to the body, which I know for a fact has never been attached since I've had the car for 3 years. I attached it, it was the body ground for the battery) and all problems solved. Thanks
