Instrument Cluster Issues

Sorry if this has been previously addressed. I have noticed a somewhat prevalent issue on some cars I've been shopping for, instrument panel stopped working, gauges mainly.

Is this a common problem? Is it more common with certain years? Or have I just happened on several cars with that problem out of pure chance?

if you are talking about 3rd gen Camaros and firebirds. yeah . some of our cars are 30 years old now . so the instruments that never were very accurate to begin with. are not working . this is not usually an expinsive fix. new circuit boards are available, there is a guy on here that re builds tachs, NOS gauges pop up now and then, speedos can be repaired. all for not much. hey you can always use the non working instruments as a lever to get a better price on the car you want!!
