How do I remove the TPI wiring harness?

Hi Guys,

Just pulled my first engine and transmission yesterday and feeling pretty good about it!

I've got a guy coming to pick up the motor and tpi system today and need to remove the tpi harness and ecu.

I know it's going to be connected to other stuff so I just need to know what wires I need to cut and where they are/go?

Had a search on the forums but can't find anything on this, any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's an 85 TransAM with 165ECU with auto trans.

If you are just going to cut wires, cut them all and don't look back.

If you need to save ANY of the wiring harness, unplug every connector you can find... Well, everything off the engine and trans. If there is something still connected, follow it, and unplug it. Repeat until the harness comes off.

Pocket wrote a great article on this, read through it.

Re: How do I remove the TPI wiring harness?

Thanks guys,

I found this one here on the forums:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...g-harness.html

And it gave me enough info to get it out, only had to cut 2 wires, the rest all came out from unplugging connectors which was good.
Probably the only good job of wiring done in the car after all the RHD conversion wiring chaos I've found.

Engine trans and harness are all out of the car, soon comes the SBC400 AFR1040 HSR combo monster to break my transmission and diff to create new problems LOL
