Hi yall, I'm having a problem opening my back hatch. I can push the button on the dash and I hear a click, so it's working, but it's not opening the hatch. Also, when I use my key, nothing happens, not even the click like when I push the button. I'm not very knowledgeable about this kind of stuff, any idea what I need to replace? This is on a 91 firebird. Thanks.

Edit: Yes, I've done a bit of searching but haven't seen anyone with this exact problem, or even similar.

 

may be a sticky lock body for the hatch. gummed up gease on the moving parts from years of dust/dirt can turn grease into an 'adhesive'. turning the key and lightly jarring/banging the hatch *may* get it to open. if you get it open, take off the rear trim panel and clean/lube the lock body.

 

im having the opposite problem my deck lid will not suck itself back down... any ideas???
