alternator help

I'm doing a v6 to v8 engine swap and the new v8 I got doesn't have a altonator. Will my v6 alternator work or will it be two small?

Re: alternator help

V6 and V8 alternator should be rated the same. It should work fine as long as you're swapping over all your stuff. Now if you change the belt type (serpentine vs v belt) then you will have issues.

Re: alternator help

You don't mention years, but in most cases no the V6 and V6 alts will not interchange due to the mounting points.

The V8 alt. has the mounting ears 180* (or straight across) from each other, where the 2.8L and 3.1L V6 used in these cars alt has the mounting ears at something like 90* apart
