1989 Turbo Trans Am Wiring Issue
Hello, I am having a no start issue. When I attempt to start the vehicle it just makes a clicking noise out of the relay shown which is attached at the firewall on the drivers side. I have replaced starter and fuel pump, and tested alternator and battery. There was an extra wire attached on the back of the alternator which runs to the relay shown. When I attempted to plug the wire back in, it made a loud thunderous crackling noise coming from the starter/flywheel area almost as if the car was attempting to crank. This is without the key in the ignition. My guess is the wiring from the starter is run to this relay? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I know when I replaced the starter I did not use shims, could this cause a no crank issue?
