Car wont start and fried wiring

91 Z28 t5 with 350 sbc
Ok my car won't start, starter is fine.
However got under my dash my vats has been bypassed and the security light turns on then off like it is supposed to. Went and checked my auto theft relay it was fried and so was the wire connector that it connects to. Where can i find the wore connectors for this car? Im also not getting 12 volts the the purple wire on the starter so i was told i need to trace it all the way. I was also told to check the ignition switch.
Could some one please give me some links and clarification on what all i need o go through to completely trouble shoot and fix the problem.

Re: Car wont start and fried wiring

A 350 backed by a T5 would not be a factory configuration. Are you sure its not a 305 backed by a T5? If its truly a 350 with a T5 then someone has been in there playing with wiring.

Re: Car wont start and fried wiring

In 2003 the 305 had 200k on it and went kaput instead of putting a new 305 a 350 was put in. So its not from the motor change because it would have happened sooner than 11 years after the engine was put in. I believe it has to do with something between the starter and that Vats. Vats has been bypassed but my security light is not the problem. New engine has about 40k on as it was a weekend car before i bought it.

Does it crank? (try)

Where is the burned auto theft relay located? (I'm thinking you are talking about the starter enable relay, located in drivers kick panel?)

Yeah thats it, green wire runs to the clutch safety switch. I know it all ties in together but can't find the exact problem. Do you know of any good mechanic shops for wiring in the KCMO KCK area. I really don't have time to keep trouble shooting.

Re: Car wont start and fried wiring

Since VATS is disabled, try jumping the two heavy gauge wires on the starter enable relay, in theory it should start.

Tried that the other day but the large green wire "slot" was completely burnt up and still it didn't start.
