wideband lambda sensor reading. Help please.

Hi, would like to use wideband lambda sensor to regulate/monitor en engine preformance (old engine not related to this site). It doesn't have to be onboard system, which is complicated - but I would like to operate the feedback manually. Let us say i have engine idling and I see the narrowband builtin sensor gives for example 0.8V or more. So I Imagine I could use regulatred power supply and turn it manually in ion pump circuit, (and see how many amps) till the sensor value get to stechiometric 0,45V. Then I could make measurments, comparsions. I don't know how possible would it be to convert to mixture ratio yet. So I have question to you - would it be all possible?

I can operate heater the same way, actually I have been experimenting with narrowband and it works great, for idling I just permanently connect 12V for heater, so I thought maybe I just add manually controled ion pump and have wideband readout - wchich I need. But I don't unederstand everything about this sensors yet, and perhaps same experts I saw here can express their opinion on this idea?

Thank you very much. (Sorry for errors, English is not my native language).
