Problems after battery relocation

After many years of hunting I finally rounded up the parts needed to put in the SLP dual CAI on my Formula. Relocated the battery (optima red top at the time) to the rear with a BMR kit. Used 0 gauge cables for the power and grounds. Power for the car is drawn from a remote point similar to the Firehawks (but better) with a 0 gauge going to the starter and another to the alternator. Problems began with chasing down bad grounds and replacing the red top (it was almost 8 years old) with a new yellow top. Car ran for a short period including two test drives. Replaced alternator with a 140a unit from Powermaster and things got better with regards to what was perceived as a charging problem. Went to start the car on Monday 1/5 and starter was making what I can best describe as a grinding noise but wasn't turning the motor over but the tach would move slightly. Figured since the starter was over 13 years old it was due plus with all the other electrical demons I'd been dealing with I decided to replace it. This brings me to today after the replacement with a completely brand new starter...still getting the same "grinding" sound and no start results as listed before. Battery was connected to a charger and showed good. Everything else in the car works as it should but it just won't start. Fuel pump is priming and all so I don't think VATS is the problem. Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Problems after battery relocation

Did you measure the voltage at the starter? Did you change anything other than move the battery? Re-check all connections? Especially the new connectors on the 0 gauge wire. ???

Re: Problems after battery relocation

Just checked at the remote point and the starter with 13v showing at both. I converted over to dual fans at the same time. Car started and ran fine on 12/26 and hadn't been touched until 1/5. Connections are solid.

Re: Problems after battery relocation

Will do on both counts. I would think the starter is turning to some degree since the tach needle is moving a small bit but at this point who knows.

Re: Problems after battery relocation

They appeared to be in good shape...as far as actually grinding I doubt it is, that's just the only word that seems to best describe the sound. I did not see any bits of metal in the dust cover or around the area when the starter was removed.

Re: Problems after battery relocation

Not tech savvy enough to post videos but did find a/the source of the problem. Following TTOP350's recommendation I went over all the related grounds again and found a 4 gauge ground wire that I missed during the project. I made a new 0 gauge ground and the car came to life. Gonna go over the car once again to double and triple check everything ground related.
