cigarette lighter not working well
Hey everyone I needed some advice.
My 12v plug in my car is very touchy. My car now has to run a led light bar on top and the plug on works in the 12v in a certain way with wiggaling. My phone adapter does the same thing. Turn it until you get power.
I know I may be asking a lot from my old car but is there a way to make it work like new? Mine is on all the time so I've been thinking about pulling the fuse and wire brushing it a bit. Or maybe a whole new socket? If that isn't too much of a pita? Thanks!

Re: cigarette lighter not working well
First step... REMOVE THE FUSE before working.. obviously
If i remember correctly, there are 2 tabs inside the cig lighter socket.. sounds like they arent holding the charger in really well, pry them out gently with a flathead screwdriver so they stick out and create a tighter connection
If that does not help, you charger could be bad.
If its not the charger, get a new scocket.. they shouldnt be more than 10 bucks if i recall... unscrew the bezel holding in the cig lighter socket and defroster.. should be 4 torx screws, Gently pull out the bezel after that, check the connections on the cig lighter to make sure they are secure... to remove the socket you have to put your finger inside the socket to get a grip on the inside.. REMEMBER REMOVE THE FUSE FIRST BEFORE YOU DO THIS... and then unscrew the casing on the outside thats covering the casing on the inside while your finger is still inside.
