Re: relay location
Update. After two days of trying to diagnose this problem I figured it out !!!!! It appears the Camaros hatch release button relay is in the console, I think everybody knows that one. my 88 gta has it tucked up under the passenger side dash behind the glove box pocket. its hidden up there. search around and youll find it.
My issues was the hatch motor worked fine. the key method worked fine but the button release didn't work, Had 12 volts to the button switch but couldn't find the relay. found relay and that was working properly.
Upon further investigation, for some reason my 88 gta has to have the parking brake on to complete the circuit. mind you this is an automatic and always has been. feeling pretty stupid about this but I applied the parking brake before and it didn't work. this time I pulled up hard on the handle and sure enough it activated the switch and the hatch popped.
Strange because I owned a 90 bird with an automatic and didn't have to use the e brake.
Anyways everything works and hopefully this may help someone else !!!!!
