Re: Brake Warning Light

IIRC the BRAKE light gets power from the GAUGES fuse when the key is turned to RUN and a switched ground @ the brake handle - or the proportioning valve - is what turns it on.

Did you swap clusters ???

What year is the car ??

Re: Brake Warning Light

If the parking brake warning light stay on when the key is turn on---Problems with the braking system, such as a low brake fluid or etc. Not electrical.

There is a sensor on the proportioning valve. Disconnect that and the light should go out.

My 84 has a slight leak somewhere...it's not terrible, maybe half a bottle of brake fluid a year, but it's enough to set the sensor off. It beats replacing the system since i can't find an obvious leak anywhere. Not the "best" fix, but I've run this way for 6 years now.
