Adding VATS

What would it take to add some sort of VATS to a system? I am getting a key and cylinder... but how could I make it like a starter disable or something?
Thanks,
Douglas

Adding the actual VATS/Pass-key system is do-able, but i think it would be a lot more headache then its worth.

You would need a VATS/Pass-key decoder, all the wiring, the lock and keys, and a eprom chip for your engine with the VATS programming.

It would be easier to just do a fuel relay cut off, or/and a starter relay cut off that a few web sites have posted on them. The idea there being that you hit a hidden switch when you want to start the car, and when you shut it off, the relay loses engergy and resets the switch automatically (no forgetting to turn the switch to arm the cut-off).

Have fun!

I have looked at all those methods, and I think in conjunction with VATS they work very well, but I still see VATS as the most effective way of theft protection.
I was hoping for some way to do it w/o GM stuff, basically acting as a fuel pump or neutral saftely switch cut but using the key.
