Deleting stock wiring.
So I've pretty much completely rewired my car after doing an engine swap. I ended up with a bunch of relays and wires for my Holley Black electric inline fuel pump, dual fans, and tach. So I started running my wires from the connectors and relays and zip tied them together to make a harness. Then I shortened them up once I ran them where they needed to go. I was also changing the heater core so I had to get into the ECM and remove it anyway. The car still works perfectly with the ECM removed. I think I want to wire the fuel gauge up and delete all of the stock wires other than those for lighting. Has anyone done this before?

Re: Deleting stock wiring.
Also, the car is carbureted now so I don't have to worry about any of that. My fans don't use any of the stock wiring because my car had a mechanical fan. I had to wire up the sending units and that's all in my harness as well. I wired up my distributor myself as well. So I think everything in my engine compartment is stand alone. That's why I want to get rid of all the old wiring I don't need. Once I have it all, I'll see if anyone wants to take that stuff off my hands when I know what all I have.

my car has been running for the last few years on a painless fused switch board. This summer i plan to go through it and remove all the unecessary wiring to clean it up a bit. How deep are you planning on going?

Re: Deleting stock wiring.
I'm going to make my own gauge cluster by buying the gauges and fabricating a dash out of a sheet of aluminum. I plan to delete all of the stock wiring possible and make my own. I'm going to wire everything myself. I already have my fans, fuel pump, and tach wired into a switch in the cabin. I'm going to wire my stereo to my accessory switch in the ignition. Pretty much I'm going to delete everything and run my own and make a diagram for it all.
