Speedometer/power issue
I have a 1989 2.8L Camaro RS. She's been having all sorts of issues but the newest is power surges and trouble accelerating. This is coupled with my speedometer jumping all over the place. Mechanic replaced the speedometer with a used one. It was good for a couple hours then started jumping all over the place and the power surges came back at the same time. I realize this could be a bad speedometer also. Has anyone else had this problem? Are we missing something?
Thank you :-)

Re: Speedometer/power issue
Speedo and the power problems are most likely not related. The speedo is a mechanical set-up so either the cable wasn't properly installed, ( could be installed wrong on either/both ends ) was bent at some point or is worn internally. I'd disconnect & inspect at both ends ASAP..... If it was installed improperly at the tranny end it might harm the speed sending unit / Speedo gear,... adding 1 more thing that needs to be replaced to your list.
