remote dimmer
I've read every article here , of which there are many.
Issue is intermittent dash lighting on my 1988 digital dash.
Questions are.. Is it possible for the transistor to be bad if it's an intermittent problem? After testing I assume this is a pnp transistor and the third leg is the base itself ? Anyone know of a good source for this part? May be in my best interest just to replace it to eliminate that being my problem

Re: remote dimmer
I've always found the Dimmer to be good or bad. Never dealt with an intermittent failure with a Dimmer circuit.
You might have read thru this already,... but here's what I learned about the Trans Am Digital Dash and the Remote Dimmer:

** I still have not yet tested my theory, or modification,........ To allow the dash backlighting to work when the PARK lights are ON and the key is NOT turned.

Re: remote dimmer
I just happened to drive mine today. I have a flickering light bulb behind my odometer panel. But mine is a bulb/socket problem.
Check the ground wire under the dash pad/center.

Re: remote dimmer
After pulling everything apart. concluded that it is not the light switch or the remote dimmer. Seem to have an intermittent power problem to the dash lights. When I wiggle the cluster it lights up. All gauges in the cluster works fine, backlighting was/is the issue
