Dead Alternator?

Would a dead alternator keep the car from doing anything. I got the car not to long ago and it has been sitting since 1997. So would a bad alternator keep it from doing anything. Sometimes somethings work and sometimes they don't my little cousin tried to honk the horn and it didn't work then a couple days later it worked

Even if the alternator was bad it would not cause the intermittent problem.

You most likely have a loose connection in line with the power cable connected to the battery.
