20 amp fuse near battery

Ok guys I searched and searched without finding the answer I'm looking for. I just got this 91 rs 305 tbi. Someone before me cut the red wire from the 20 amp fuse and just stuck the wire leading to the fuse under the battery terminal and tightened it down to start the car. My question is where does the red wire go to? The positive junction block on the fender by the coolant bottle looks like it melted down at one point and is no longer there I want to put it back the way is is supposed to be. I only have one smaller lead off my position cable and it is going to the alternator. I tried to chase the othe end of the red wire but it goes in the big loom behind the engine. Where does it end? It does not have voltage to it at any time. I tried looking at the wiring diagrams but it does not say where it goes. Thanks

That should be the fuse for the fuel pump.

Re: 20 amp fuse near battery

I figured it was the fuel pump fuse. It is a red wire to the fuse and an orange wire coming out. I believe the Orange wire goes to the fuel pump relay. But where does the red wire originate? It was cut and just put under the terminal and clamped down when they tightened the battery cable to the battery

Don’t remember the factory origin, maybe someone will provide that info, however electrically speaking your present connection of it going to the battery is fine as long as the fuse is close to the battery terminal so the non-fused portion cannot short.
