Cooling fan problems
Cooling fan problems
I have a 92 camaro Rs with the 305. I cant get the electric fan to work. I put a new motor and a new fan relay in and i cant get it to work and the motor keeps overheating. Cna anyone help please?
No offense....But...Get yourself a Chilton's. Section 6-190 and 6-191 diagram how the coolant fan's electrical system should work. Try to isolate which of the components has failed --- is not connected---or not functioning properly. Sorry, that the best I can do...
I had the same problem a couple of years ago. The fellow that worked on the car replaced the fan motor, relay, yada yada yada and did not fix it... I got the car back found a charred wired and I repaired it… Third Generation Camaro is the best car one can own., but they are not replace a part and see if that fix it type cars…You can burn up a lot of cash that way.
Wish I could help more….

Actually, hooking a 12 v source directly to the fan motor is a good idea. If the fan motor comes on., next check the ECM to ensure it is energizing the fan circuit (relay). Just ground the "test" terminal -- turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (don't start the car). The fan(s) should come on. If the fan(s) does not come on you will need to check for bad relay and/or a shorted-open circuit(s).
