VATS is BAD, How to bypass?
Hay all! first post here.
Anyway, Confirmed vats is bad, no crank, no fuel pressure, no security light. getting code 46, vats. tryed both of my keys, same thing, so its not the key cylinder, meening I cant just used a realy to skip it can i ? .-.
Also, to prove it, i un-pluged the 2 small orange wires going to the Vats, and it changed nothing meeneing, If it was something else, I would have gotten a security light for sure.
SOI did alot of reading. They say you need to bypass the vats relay, ANd get a new prom. I cant find a single hit on a new prom, so. I found this picture, showing how to basically, hot wire the car.
Tan and white wire from gear selection, and a yellow from column (pretty sure its the wire from the cylinder to engage the starter? and not yellow, thats the airbag wire, thatt i removed the airbag anyay. )
So
Anyone want to help me hot wire my car so i dont have to get a new prom lol?

You leave the car in the right neighborhood and they'll get it running for free. You just need to steel it back again, that's all.

Still having issues. I put in a new key cylinder which was the problem and it worked great.
Now its doing the exact same thing as before, VATS preventing a start even with a NEW key cylinder. AFTER it had worked for a couple days wdf?!
What can I do? New NEW key cylinder? idek so frustrated.

Re: VATS is BAD, How to bypass?
It's not usually the actual key cylinder that presents the problem, it's the skinny wires running through the column that get pinched or stretched or something until they break or no longer conduct the key value. To maintain the VATS security feature you need to route the wires more carefully, or just bypass the whole thing which loses the security function
