86 ECM swap

i ordered an ECM from ebay 1227169 which matches my cars number (its LG4 carbed). im putting it in my 86 Firebird and want to know is it plug and play? i noticed when i went to autozone.com for a reman i have to transfer the proms/calpack???

what is a prom? how do i get it out? do i have to do that to the one thats coming? its a used OEM unit

also why cant i find any schematic for this ECM? i want to locate the ground pins so i can test them

Re: 86 ECM swap

The prom is the larger chip, the calpak is the Smaller chip for limp home mode .
To remove they pull out, watch the orientation they will only go back one way.

Re: 86 ECM swap

Since the prom has the same broadcast code of ffa. You can just install the ecm.
The ffa is the code for a 86 lg4, 700r4 computer controlled carburetor.
