3 big problems, well make that 4

ok stay with me, my car was running like a dream then it had the domino effect, you all know how that goes. ok here goes

Problem #1
The Speedo clicks, and it just started making the pointer sort of float around, im pretty sure its the cable, should I have it looked at? replaced? you tell me

Problem #2
The rear defrost isn't working, just any thing you can tell me to try to troubleshoot that would be great

Problem #3
Car has never charged great alternator usually sits at 10-11 volts cruising and goes down to 8-9 at stoplights. i got a new alternator last year. didn't help much. sometimes when i flip on the bright lights it would kill my radio for a sec and reset it also dimming the power in the car. another thing is when i turned my heater on the alternator wouldn't charge at all. usually it has a mind of its own and charges for awhile then just dies down

Problem #4
Heater isn't blowing out hot air, any quick fixes?

I would start with all the following.

1. new speedo cable
2. new battery
3. new alternator.
4. if heater core is connected to heater hoses and is not leaking, check for vaccum leaks on the lines that connect the heater control valve to the AC/Heater control panel. (Thin plastic tubing).
(Thats where my leak was, I patched it and it works fine again!)
5. Check wiring from defrost switch to rear hatch defroster with a test light. There is a rear defroster patch kit that you can get at most auto parts stores. With the kit, patch the contacts on each defrost bar. It also wouldnt hurt to get a new switch from GM.

Hope this helps, it should!

Not the best advice.

I would first recommend, getting the alternator and battery tested, not replaced. Advanced Auto Parts, and Pep boys and most will test them for you for free and tell you whats wrong.

My re-fogger doesn't stay on for more than a min, so I can't help ya there.

If your heater isn't blowing hot air, Check your theremostat. Mine wasn't blowing either, until I discovered the bozo who owned the car before me, never installed a theremostat. If there is one, it may need replaced.

If you still have no heat, someone will have to look at it. Also, get the speedo looked at to its important.

Hope this helps out some.
