I'm swapping TPI into my Caprice and I'd like to retain the cruise control. My car has the AC "Electro-Motor" cruise box used on a bunch of the B-bodies, trucks, and I think 4th gens got them.
Did any third-gen come with the electronic cruise? Or did they all get the vacuum system? Just wondering if I can hunt for the right cable, or if I'll have to build something.
Vacuum. But it's not a big deal, the system works fine, if you can mount a vacuum valve to the brake pedal anyway. Or figure out what vss signal your cruise uses and determine if tpi can send it.
Some tpi maf with the 1227165 ecm non cable drive used a vss buffer
True, but the cruise control system is the same from 84-92.
Fabbing a cable shouldn't be a big deal. The aftermarket cruise systems just use a bead chain from the cable to the throttlebody. So just clip the existing cable in the bracket, hook up a chain, and hook the loop to the chain at the required length.
