1992 Camaro Vats Issue
Problem Ive never seen owning 2 1992 camaro's
car wont start as of this evening, never been problematic. 1992 305 tbi
2 things happen, 1 ive seen, the other i havent.
1- try to start car. Security light doesnt even come on. never comes on and car wont start
flick the ignition on and off a couple of times then
2- Security light stays on, doesnt go out. Naturally doesnt start.
I never see the light NOT come on and not start.

Re: 1992 Camaro Vats Issue
To verify it’s a vats issue and it sounds like it is. You can check for power key on engine off at the ecm blue wire in cavity B6. You will have between 2.5-5v or a hz signal.
Another way to test the vats is to pull the prom and the engine will start but run in limp home mode. You can allways check the chip key reader by ohming the key then put the key in the cylinder and check the resistance on the two small white wires in the Orange sheath at the bottom of the column.
There are a few ways to bypass the vats resistor on the white wires to bypass the key resistor. Hz modulator and having a prom burned .
