broke ignition wire

I was trying to fix the loose steering column and broke an ignition wire taking it out. Whats this wire do? The car is push to start. Do I need to repair it?

VATS. Carries the signal from the pellet in the key to the computer. If your VATS is bypassed, don't worry about it. If your car still starts, you're good to go.

Re: broke ignition wire

If you need to bypass the key reader you can measure the key pellet resistance. Then instal a resistor of the same impedance at the bottom of the column .

@drew someone told me if it still starts it would only be running on 7 cylinders. Is that true?

Re: broke ignition wire

The car should still start. I was scared to try but when i turned over the key everything seems fine, push to start button lit up. Still need to replace the steering column, because there is not enough wiring to pull out what I need to to get to those torx bolts that come loose.
