I haven't found a clear cut answer in my searching but I have to take my motor one more time so no better time than to fix this.

I installed one of these but the speedo still doesn't work:

it is brand new. the tranny that is in the car is a v8, 700r4 with a 3000stall. there are two electrical plugs on the drivers side of it and both connectors are hooked up properly and still no speedo. the engine is of course not the v6. see in the sig. it is now 357 carb vortec. please help if you need any other info let me know. oh the tranny came out of a trans am with a cable driven speedo. and I have the proper gears so speedo is accurate. thx

 

Put the ECM back in... You removed the VSS buffer when you deleted it.

Or,

Install an SGI-5 box.

Or,

Install a 4-Out Buffer box.

I have not removed the ecm except to or at least I don't remember taking it out unless it was when I replaced heater core. But I will check to see if wires came loose. And I'll check other options also. Thx

Yes to the yellow Hawks buffer. No to the ebay DRAC.

Although for the price you would be better off with the SGI-5 box. The reason is that it allows for calibrating the VSS pulse rate to the speedometer.
