145 speedo w/ odo

hey guys I just bought a new 145 speedo with 150,000 miles on it. And I’m trying to figure out how to set it back to my cars current mileage of 95,000. Ik it’s a touchy subject but it is legal as long as you aren’t committing fraud which is not. Help with this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 145 speedo w/ odo

I think you will have to take the odo apart and reposition the odo rolls-cable driven GM speedos since 1969 have a ratchet mechanism to prevent odo from rolling back when speedo turned in reverse.Don't know about the Nippondenso speedos (most '86 up firebirds)or the stepper motor driven odos.Be very careful if you take the speedo mechanism apart-very east to ruin it...

Re: 145 speedo w/ odo

I did this a few years ago with my car. I took my factory 115 speedo and removed the 115 face, and put the 145 face on. Have to be careful removing the needle, but you can do it.
