VATS Update

VATS update

As previously noted I had checked the resistance of the key and the connection. It read good but the car still would not start, just click.
So earlier this week I asked my wife to help and pop start it with myself and daughter pushing.
When she got in she tried adjusting the seat and pulled on the steering wheel. When turning on the key went too far and the thing started. Several times. D***.
So maybe it is the connection at the key resistance wires. Made sure of the proper resistance and went to our local electronics store and bought a multi pack of resisters for a whole 1.20 plus tax.
Cut the wire to the column, unplugged the connector, soldered the the resister, in plugged it back in and VROOOM.
Problem solved.
Thanks to Dyno Don and others

Re: VATS Update

Usually the problem is with the wires at the tumbler in the column. Replacing the ignition tumbler fixes the issue.
