Alternator question
Hi guys,
I am doing a serpentine conversion on an 87 TPI 305. I noticed the alternator wiring connector on my 87 is a 3-wire set up, and it seems that newer cars had a 2-wire connector. It LOOKS like it just pugs in the same though. I noticed some newer cars even have a 1 wire connector....
Since only 88 and up alternators work on the serpentine brackets, can I just use a 88 and up alternator from a newer car and plug in my 3 wire connector? I've searched serpentine conversion and all I find is people say s to use a newer alternator, but little detail about the wiring except to extend it.
Any thoughts?
thanks!
