Underhood Light

I know this is going to sound stupid but I can't get my underhood light to work. I have changed the bulb and tried every switch. What am I doing wrong?

Some models have a inline fuse and almost all have some type of connector on the wire. If you can’t find a inline fuse or connector look in the wiring harness.

Thanks, I never thought to look for an inline fuse!

Be careful... If your inline was original like mine the darn thing is fused and could cause a spark when you try to remove it. It can be an incredible pain. If you want the light to be functional I suggest moving up to a different light OR double wiring to get two lights... Really helps things out

I found the fuse holder and the glass part of the fuse came out leaving the metal ends inside. I did get them out and the light works now. I might try that extra light thing too!

Thanks,
Mark

You can unplug your battery then take needle nose pliers and pull the metal ends out.

Well, I didn't disconnect the battery

Not something I would recommend for anyone else, but I think the other fuse is blown as I was never shocked. I am thinking of running a direct line from the battery for more power but run it through that particular lights switch and than running several "strategic" lights all over my engine bay in order to aid in night time projects... I am sure all of you, like myself, get started late or have to work on the car until the wee hours of the morning and as such a few more lights (non-tacky or obtruse) would work great or at least to highlight my work at a car show at night . By the way anyone know what size fuse that is since mine was SO far gone I can no longer tell?

It's only 12vdc so you're not going to get shocked anyway. You might ground out the wire though.
