Hello everybody,
My name is Robert - I own a 1990 Camaro with the more modern looking instrument cluster....after polishing the cluster screen I want to replace all bulbs on the backside....I found pc161, pc194 bulbs and smaller pc74 bulbs... is there any sheet available to see which bulbs go where ? Is it correct that I have to use pc161 OR pc194 on some spots ? I just want to make sure, that I have the right bulbs at the right spots in the cluster ....
Thank u for your help....
Rob My gauge cluster....
Nobody? Don't get me wrong - I just need to know, if I could use pc161 (3 watts )only or replace all of them with the brighter pc194 (4 Watts)....does it matter?
Thanks,
Rob
On the Camaro I don't know, on my Firebird I put 194's in all the slots. I would suggest that you be careful with LED's though many of them don't through the light into the plastic refractors and you end up with dim spots in the gauges. Also I found that the check engine light with some LED's will slightly illuminate due to how LED's can produce faint light with just inductive voltage.
Thank U for your reply 😊
So I will use 194s on all the slots like u did.
I'm not interested in LEDs because the car should stay pretty much stock *except of the Flowmaster exhaust and the the polished rims ..
Agree with using the 194s. LEDs sometimes throw light in different ways, sometimes more focused on a spot, rather than a simple glass bulb like the 194. LEDs can give dim spots when used in a plastic housing with lenses.
No reason to use LEDs when they're just shining through another lens anyway. And most 194s will last a long time.
