Radiator Fan Motor not working
Radiator Fan Motor not working
Hey all,
I've got an '88 Firebird (305 tpi) and about a year ago I was driving and looked over to notice that I was overheating so I pulled over (luckily there was a shop directly across the street) and looked over the car and couldn't identify what was the issue so I got someone from the shop to take a look and it turns out that the radiator fan motor had stopped working. So over the past year as I have been tinkering on it as I have time (working full-time and trying to get a business off the ground really limits me) I have replaced the thermostat, the relay that runs to the fan motor, the fuse in the fuse box, the temp sender sensor and even the fan motor itself. I actually had an issue when I bought the new fan motor as the prongs were made into the wrong position on the new motor which wouldn't let the harness stay secure as the plastic bump that secures the harness was technically on the wrong side at that point, so I was advised to pop out the connectors and turn them upside down so that everything would fall into place and secure. Everything was fine after that but the fan motor still wouldn't turn on once it reached 220 degrees. I am personally stumped on what could be the issue, we've used a battery to test the new fan motor and it's not a dud. Have any of you had the same issue at all? I would personally rather not run it to a toggle switch or convert it to a belt driven fan as I am thinking of selling the car once everything is running strong again to help pay off a large chunk of my daily driver and I'll get more for it if I haven't had to modify that. The car is completely original except for the radio, rims, and custom exhaust tips.
Thanks for any help in advance!
