No backup or brake lights, no turn signals. Help

Ive had an issue with the headlights not working for forever on my 83 z28. Its been parked for 10 ish years with no headlights. I decided to try and fix its issues and im slowly finding more electrical issues. Ive taken the entire 3rd gen dash out (pain but did it) and replaced the dimmer switch for the headlights.

Now the headlights are working like theyre supposed to but i cant seem to figure out why im not getting any break lights. Pushing the windshield wiper stock (guessing on the name) down, im not getting any turn signals. And putting the car into reverse isnt giving me and rear lights.

Can anyone shed some light (bad pun) on this ?

Check your STOP / HAZARD fuse.

If the Fuse is OK then check to be sure that you re-connected all the dash housings' wiring,........ check the area behind the drivers side kick panel. Wire colors to look for are YELLOW ( L-turn), Dk. Green, (R-Turn), & Lt. BLUE (Brake).

Thanks John, I'll be taking a look at the wiring, and check the fuse in the morning. I dont think i've undone too many wires while taking the dash out. hopefully its just gonna be something easy like the fuse

Thanks

Probably not a fuse... it would have to be several. Brake, tail, TS, & backup lights, each have their own. Not impossible that all are blown of course; just, not terribly likely. Check them of course but don't be too surprised if there's nothing wrong with them.

Sounds more like the "Fisher Body" connector, sort of behind and below the brake pedal under the carpet, is disconnected.

I never could seem to find the fisher body connector, but after reviewing some more threads on the interior wiring, I think it might be the Turn / Hazard Switch. But after googling it i cant seem to find its location anywhere on how to replace it. Hopefully its just an easy fix so i can put the dash together and get back on the road.

Sounds more like the "Fisher Body" connector.....
AKA: C200. Diagrams are from an 86 Camaro, but the 83 also used the same C200 connector........

Turn / Hazard Switch
Probably not that. It doesn't affect the backup lights or the tail lights, if those are out.

Read my signature and consider the implications carefully.

John is correct that the 86 diagram should be close to yours; that connector is very similar in all GM cars, and changed very little over many years.

Only has an orange and black wire coming from it.

Do you know what this connector might be? i know its probably not related to what im trying to diagnose but im still really curious to what might have gone there.

Lighter. Careful the orange is hot at all times if your battery is still hooked up
The lighter socket snaps into that One of many things protected by the ACC (accessory fuse)

Does anyone know a straight forward way to replace this ( turn signal/ hazards switch) and fish the wires through? Im thinking replacing this will fix my no turn singnals or hazards issue. And I believe im just going to re-wire my breaklights wire because i still cant find the issue.

Pull the wiring out with the switch after tying a string to it. Use the string to pull the new harness back in.

Re: No backup or brake lights, no turn signals. Help

Update: I managed to route the wire back through the factory location. It looks like some of the factory connections were frayed a little bit. Once i pulled the old turn/ hazard switch wires and connector out, it fell from where it was hanging. Does anyone know anywhere they have a blown up diagram of the steering column? just so i can put everything back together properly and still have everything turn on again. Luckily i haven't moved anything out from the floorboard, so if I get a diagram or photo i can put it together like a puzzle

Update: As for the brake lights and reverse lights, Ive figured out what was wrong with the break lights, the switch had just been bad. I ohmed it out with the battery connected and peddle pressed and nothing showed up. I replaced the switch and they started to work just fine. As for reverse lights, im not so worried about them for the time being. Im not really planning on driving too much at night, if i do ill put in remote LeD's to back up with.
