Running lights STAY on when key is off
Gentlemen,
here are the issues I am faced with, below is the full story
1. Fog lights and taillights started working but do not shut off when the ignition is off
-the fog lights only turn off only when the relay is removed or switch unplugged
2. The foglight switch is stuck, how do I repair it so the off button works
3. Headlights do not go down, probably unrelated
I did not want to start a new thread if I could find the answer on an old one, but none such luck. I have had issues with my fog lights and running lights not working. However, I was about to go driving yesterday and I noticed they were on even though I had switched the car off and the headlights were off as well (those suckers do not go down so until I rebuild those I do not use them). I figured it was a relay issue so I hit it, nothing happened, so I pulled the relay and went for a drive. Well, my taillights, running lights, and plate light started working, which is neat, but they stayed on after the car was off. I assume it is a ground issue, or switch issue. Is there anyone who has had these problems, please let me know what I should do to troubleshoot. I would like to know body ground locations that should be checked. Otherwise I will look at wiring diagrams, scratch my head, and browse the internet for possible ways to fix it.
Thanks in advance,
Joe Monte

Re: Running lights STAY on when key is off
Update:
I cleaned every body ground I could find. I replaced a blown fuse in the box for the heater which is strange because I removed my heater box. The lights worked, it fixed the headlights, too. Now here?s the weird part. The fog and running lights sometimes turn off and stay off. Sometimes not. They sometimes turn off, then immediately turn back on without turning the switch on. When I closed the drivers side door, it turned them off, then they came back on. No fuses are blown. Any tips on how to unstick the fog light switch would be appreciated. I assume that otherwise it is either the relay, or the headlight switch.

Re: Running lights STAY on when key is off
One of the prongs in the headlight switch, the one for when the switch is off, was not touching the circuit board when the switch was in the off position. I bent it down slightly, and added dialectic grease. The headlights now work, the running lights now work, and the switch above my knee turns on the fog lights. This was causing inconsistencies with the button being pressed.
Now, here’s the last issue. The plastic catch on the “off” button for the fog lights is broken. Therefore when the fog lights are pressed on, they cannot be turned off. Are these rebuildable units, or do they have to be replaced entirely? Does anyone have a functioning one that they’re willing to part with at college-student-budget prices?

Got in my car to start it up and the battery is dead; that must mean a drain somewhere. However when I went to bed @11pm every light was off and working on it’s own independent switch.
